Yeah it doesn't sound like a great time but Dicky does say everyone should do the race once. Sort of like Jay, I don't think I would do it again after finishing the first time. Part of my reasoning for wanting to do it is also time of year. I miss out on a good majority of races because they are during my busy season. La Ruta is good timing as I'm pretty much off at that point. Will I ever do La Ruta, probably not but would I like to be able to say I did it, damn skippy.
Abe, After reading a bunch of reviews, that race is certainly on the "must do" race list. Now if I could only find the time to train, the money to register, and the actual "stones" to go ahead and do it, I would be all set. Let's pencil this race in for 2009 and I will see you there...
There isn't really a me, there is a group of us- Abe, Nick, Josh, Dennis, and myself- Sven. first off, let's clear up the nickname issue for newbies:
Sven = DEA, Dr. Evil, Dr. Asspistol Sphincter, Svengali
Dennis = JJ, Judge Judy, D2
Abe = A1, Steak Sauce, The Freak
Nick = NK, North Korea, Korea Slim, Stinky Pot Pie
Josh = PowderJew, DirtyBoy
We are a group of morons who hang together, ride together, ski together, and share tips on marriage and being parents- well except for Nick on the marriage and parenting and Josh on just the parenting. We live in the White Mountains (except for Josh) Nick, and Sven work in the advertising world, Dennis is a lawyer, Abe owns a tent company, and Josh owns a steel yard. So go figure- hope you like it!
LATE EDIT- a few updates: Nick is not only married, but is also a father. Sven and Nick no longer work in advertising over in North Conway, but as luck would have it they once again work together this time at a private school in Western Maine- and they both live on campus (but never seem to ride together- hmmm. The rest is still holding true and TWAF is still riding and skiing and having fun.

Abe,
